The media’s delivery of the wildfires helped further the economic impact. The agency chose a news theme delivered in an amusing manner. The campaign highlighted an Okanogan County where news reporters get distracted and drawn into fun. Broadcast media, earned media, and social media were utilized to deliver the message up and down the I-5 corridor and Canada. Eight of the cities averaged a revenue increase of 24% over the same quarter of the previous year (Washington State Department of Revenue).
