B. Strong for Kids: March 2015 – Alaska Beyond Magazine: Strong for Kids, the fascinating lead story in the March 2015 issue of Alaska Beyond Magazine, featured Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson, who is a tireless advocate for children in cancer treatment, describing how he inspires others with his insight, work ethic and determination to succeed. Alaska Airlines is the lead sponsor of the Strong Against Cancer campaign, and Wilson is the airline’s Chief Football Officer (CFO). As part of this deeper relationship, airline employees were given the opportunity to ask Wilson questions on wide-ranging topics and his thoughtful and illuminating responses were included as part of the Strong for Kids feature. This story helped Seattle Children’s Hospital successfully launch the Strong Against Cancer initiative by providing exposure to more than 2 million readers. The magazine’s cover image shows Russell Wilson and a young boy in a stance and demeanor that exhibit enthusiasm and energy for the Strong Against Cancer campaign. Strong for Kids was also published online in a digital format, promoting support for Strong Against Cancer year-round to millions of people, including travelers, as well as Alaska Air Group’s 11,000-plus employees, for whom the effort particularly resonates, because caring about people is a key company value.
