D. The Bennett Foundation – Texas Relief: The Bennett Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping underserved communities throughout the United States. Founded by former Seattle Seahawks player, Michael Bennett, the foundation is a true family effort with regular support from Michael’s wife, Pele, and their three daughters, Payton, Blake and Ollie.
As natives of Alief Texas, Michael and Pele were deeply moved by the 2017 flood devastation in Houston. The couple enlisted the Seattle-based PR agency to build awareness and raise funds for relief of those affected by the floods of Hurricane Harvey.
The agency capitalized on Michaels’ notoriety and frequent media coverage, building a strategic messaging and media campaign that involved the Foundation’s own channels, Michael’s professional profiles, corporate sponsors, challenges to fellow players, and other partners.
Often considered a polarizing political figure, Micheal Bennett was able to bring thousands of people together, while the PR agency was able to utilize the power of social media to rally supporters and raise over $150,000.00 in donation support. One hundred percent of the funds were used to purchase immediate need supplies for families in the affected area, as Michael’s own family hand-delivered the aid to the Texas communities.
